Kelly invited Brooke and I to go on a backpacking trip with her, Alan, and their friend Erica on the Olympic Coast. We started at Rialto Beach, and hiked North along the black sand beach, over rocks, logs, and anything else that was in the way. We camped at a site called Chilean Memorial. On the second day we did a day hike a few miles farther North, and then headed back to camp, packed up, and made our way back to the trail head. Brooke and I stayed there to take pictures at sunset while the other three headed home.
Our tent perched up on a small ledge above the beach to make sure we didn't get hit by high tide.

Looking out across the cove from our camp.
|
There were lots of colorful rocks on the beaches...
|
We saw a few bald eagles on our day hike. Unfortunately I didn't have my long lens with me, but I managed to get a few pictures that were ok.

This was the view to the North from where we turned around on our dayhike.

More wildlife...
|
And some more hanging out in the tree.

The gang relaxing on the beach, enjoying lunch while we wait for high tide to pass so we can make our way back to the trail head.

This was the cove we were camped in.

There were lots of logs washed up on the beach to climb over.

After Kelly, Alan, and Erica left, Brooke and I stayed to wait for sunset. With the clouds and haze, there was no color in the sky, so we ended up taking advantage of the dim light to get some long exposures of the waves.
