Kelly and Alan invited Brooke and I to go backpacking with them to Yellew Aster Butte in the North Cascades. Brooke and I hadn't done any backpacking in that area of the Cascades yet, so we were excited to see something new. We hiked in through fog and clouds and didn't have much of a view. We had hoped for a nice sunset, but being surrounded by clouds, we didn't expect anything. As it turned out, just before sunset, the clouds parted and we got some really nice colors. The next day we got up early for sunrise and the clouds had lifted, giving us a view of Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker. It turned out to be a fairly quick trip, but well worth it for the amazing scenery. I'd definitely go back again...
