Kirsten, Steve, Brooke, and I had planned to do a day hike through the Enchantments, but the weather report wasn't looking too great, with a decent chance of snow falling. So instead, we decided to go somewhere lower that wasn't a loop so we'd have the option of turning back if the weather got bad. This also meant that we could bring Charlie along for his first long hike (dogs aren't allowed in the Enchantments). We chose the trail to Three Fingers and as it turned out, the weather was great. It was cold, but the sun was out. The trail started out very wet and muddy, and Charlie was having a great time running up and down the trail ahead of us. After a while the trail dried out, then we hit snow and ice. We ended up turning around a few hundred feet above Goat Flat. It was a great hike, about 11 miles round trip. I think Charlie really liked it, and it was nice to have him worn out the next day too.
