The forecast for Saturday was sunny and warm, so Brooke and I decided to get out and go for a hike. We headed up Granite Mountain since it's near by, a good climb (about 3,750 ft), and relatively short since the upper half still has plenty of snow so you can head straight up rather than taking the summer trail. We probably should have turned off the trail sooner than we did on the way up, but still ended up cutting off a large portion of the summer trail and made it to the top in two hours and 45 minutes. It turned out to be a perfect day without a cloud in the sky. On the way down we decided to just head straight down, and were able to glissade most of the way down (about 1,400 vertical feet) until we reached the snow line and got back on the trail. We ended up making it down in just over an hour, thanks to the glissade.
