Brooke and I decided we needed to get out backpacking with Charlie over the Fourth of July weekend since he doesn't do well with fireworks. The weather wasn't looking great and a lot of the trailheads were still snowed in, but since we needed to get out of the city we packed up and headed to the tailhead for Deception Pass. The trail was bare for about the first 3.5 miles, then we hit snow and lost the trail. We made our way Northward till we found the pass, and after a little searching, found the trail on the other side of the pass. The trail was bare from there till shortly before we reached Deception Lakes. On Sunday we decided to set out for Glacier Lake to our North. The clouds were low, visibility was poor, and the snow obscured any sign of either of the trails that led to the lake. So after spending a few hours exploring, we decided to head back to camp, pack up, and move closer to the trail head. Monday morning we packed up and headed out.
