The hike through Spider Meadow to Spider Gap is a very popular one because of the amazing scenery. So, with a warm sunny weather forecasted for the weekend, Brooke and I decided to head up there and see what all the hype was about. The first 5 miles is in a forested valley without much scenery. But then all of a sudden, you break out of the forest into Spider Meadow and a great view of the rest of the valley ahead of you. We kept hiking past a ton of people camped there and make our way up towards Spider Glacier. As we reached the base of the glacier, we started looking for a camp site, and found a great spot up above and away from all the other groups that were camped in the area. The next morning we hiked up the glacier and over Spider Gap to take a look at the view on the North side of the gap. After a snack and some photos, we headed down, packed up camp, and headed out. It was a great weekend with perfect weather, and we learned why this area gets so much praise.
